Christian Louboutin Very Prive

This is turning out to be accessories week here on Crewlade. The Very Prives in classic Black with red toe from Christian Louboutin is THE must-have classic staple in any girl’s closet. It’s many times the price of normal pumps, sure, but as a splurge, there is nothing else more flattering, stunning, or worth it for $795. I remember the first time I saw these online, I gasped. These were my first shoe loves. I don’t think I had ever imagined a shoe could be described as “stunning” before that night.

They’re very comfortable for a pump this gorgeous and this tall, mostly because there is a small platform built into the shoe. I’ve purchased and worn many shoes that I thought were very flattering and leg-lengthening, but none compare to these. They dress up any outfit and are sure head-turners. Also love the pop of red against the smooth, soft black leather, both in the toe and the sole.

I got them one size up from my usual US size. This is the trick I’ve learned to fit comfortably into Louboutin shoes. The first time I tried a pair on, I went with my usual US size, and it was way too small. The sales associate at Neiman Marcus, who clearly was not familiar with Louboutins, snarkly remarked that maybe Louboutin was just not a brand for me. Only after some research online did I realize every single girl sizes up in Louboutins. One size up generally works as a rule of thumb for me now when it comes to Louboutins. They will feel slightly tight at first (damn those narrow-footed European women these were probably designed for), but because the leather is a calfskin, it really molds to your foot over time and they become much more comfortable with wear. These are probably one of my most treasured and loved possessions, and whenever I need some pizazz or a boost of self-confidence, I whip these out and I know I will look amazing while still feeling comfortable. Nine West Getby Wedges

Okay, by now you’ve all seen me wear my Nine West Getby wedges to death. Nine West has almost never failed me in terms of the combination of style and comfort. These wedges look very sexy, but with an uber comfortable, cushiony sky high wedge. The great cushioning, in addition to the fact that the platform makes this wedge more like a 3″ heel (feels less than that, in fact), makes these my go-to and walk-everywhere sandals of the summer.

The leather is very pebbly and soft; does not look like they will rub at your feet anytime soon. These wedges are also very light so you’re definitely not clunking around. I almost never purchase any shoes in more than one color but it’s just so rare to find something this cute and this comfortable, so I had to stock up. If they had my size in all the other colors, I’d probably buy them too…

Now there is just one caveat to this rave review. Though frankly I’m completely in love with the muted dark gold color, more so than the black (it’s just not as “summery”), the gold is a synthetic leather. I know, I was very surprised to see this on the shoe especially since Piperlime (where I purchased them from) stated they were 100% leather. However, I’ve worn the gold around and I don’t think I can feel the difference. I’m not sure whether the non-leather will hold up the same as the leather over time, but guess we shall see. $79 is way too much to pay for synthetic leather but I just can’t resist something this cute and this comfortable. Charles David Glint Sandal

Now that summer is upon us, I’m starting to harbor some real discontent towards my paltry “collection” of sandals. I have two pairs of Jeffrey Campbell Johnny Ex that are supremely comfortable and have lasted me every day last summer. But they’re really starting to look the part and frankly, I’m tired of wearing them every day. I’m looking to fill 3 empty spots in my daily shoe rotation – high wedge (filled by my recent BR Dahlia wedges), low-medium wedge for days with more walking (especially to wear with skirts), and super cute flat sandals. These Glint sandals from Charles David fill that last hole. They’re not plain flat sandals – the gorgeous jewels and unique pairing of turquoise and ruby make these a head turner. They’re simple yet elegant and will add a pop of color to every outfit. As bejeweled sandals are such a huge trend this summer, I’ve seen them everywhere, but honestly I don’t think any of them are as classy and gorgeous as these.

These are not the most comfortable sandals, but they’re comfortable enough. I say this because the single string holding your foot to the shoe is a bit meager; your foot tends to move around a lot, especially since the surface is so smooth. The sole also doesn’t move with your foot as you bend it while walking because there’s just not enough holding your foot to the shoe; you end up feeling like you’re flopping while you’re walking, with the sound to match. I got my usual size but it’s slightly longer than my foot. There have been times when I wasn’t careful and stepped out of the shoe. They’ve been comfortable while walking around my apartment so I’m hoping all these issues don’t manifest into something unbearable when I roll them out to the concrete sidewalks.
