Looks like the folks at J.Crew have caught on that it’s freezing outside, and took advantage to have a “winter” sale. I’m happy with the steep discount, but ironically only part of their sale actually has anything to do with winter. Not complaining though — happy to see some cute shoes and bags on sale for 40% off, especially some that usually don’t go on sale! Here are some of my picks.

What are you buying from the sale?

I’ve been on a J.Crew bag kick lately — maybe it’s the steep extra 40% off sale discount that keeps tempting me, especially when they keep adding great bags I had already been eyeing to the sale. The Hughes Satchel is one of those. Originally $298, now $199 with extra 40% off sale =  $119. You can’t beat that.

I first saw it in the catalog in blue; it immediately caught my attention because after being a bag aficionada for so long, I’ve pretty much seen all the shapes and variations thereof out there…but this one, I haven’t. It’s very unique, and the color was so pretty for winter.

I also loved it in red (or burgundy), but having just purchase the Claremont bag in the same shade of red, I was hesitant.

Then I saw these bags in person and was uncontrollably drawn to the red. It’s so eye-popping and deeply saturated in hue. Reminds me of the super old school Rebecca Minkoff Matinee in Wine. However, I felt like I was carrying a lunchbox as the leather is stiff like the Claremont so it is a relatively structured bag. It was adorable with the gold accents, but I just couldn’t justify another red bag. Also, I had hoped to carry this in the crook of my arm and the drop of the handles seemed a tad short over a winter coat. Anyway, if you have any interest in this bag, now is the time as it is on massive sale here at just $119!

I’ve liked the styles of J.Crew’s bags for a while, but I was always uncertain of their quality, which puts me squarely on the fence given the usual high price tags. When I saw this look in J.Crew’s November catalog, however, I fell in love. What great pops of deep, saturated red against a snow-white outfit. So pretty! I kept an eye on it, and voila now it’s on sale here for just $129, with extra 40% off sale, making it dirt cheap.

When it arrived, I was pleasantly surprised that the color is equally as deep and saturated in person. The leather is a bit stiff, not a soft supple leather, but I kind of like that on this bag. It gives it structure and makes me feel like it’s waterproof and relatively indestructible.
