Must-haves for Fall/Winter 2012

As a poor entrepreneur, I’ve been trying to not spend these past few months. Apologies for promising to post more and then not — simply looking through J.Crew was too much temptation. Still, just over the last month, I’ve managed to have seen a whole slew of things I’m now uncontrollably obsessed with and need to have at all cost. Sigh! Here they are.

J.Crew Icon Trench in Wool-Cashmere – Cabernet – $325

J.Crew’s 25% off outerwear sale brought me back to the site. I tried to quickly scroll through and conclude nothing looked too tempting, but I literally gasped when I saw this trench. How stunning is this color? The saturation is beautiful, and is topped off by a great contrast between the dark red and the black buttons. I was instantly in love. I own last season’s Icon Trench in Wool-Cashmere in a color similar to this year’s Heather Acorn, and the fit is beautiful. I’ve received countless compliments on it, so I knew this one would fit beautifully as well. I was dying to have it — went to add to my cart and realized it was sold out in all sizes. I called J.Crew and they said, yup, gone and no chance of restock. What?!?!! Damn you, J.Crew. Apparently it was released back in August and already snatched up. I was being punished for my self-imposed J.Crew ban. Damn it. If you love this too, let’s all make our daily check-in here.

OR maybe I’ll settle for another similarly dark-red (and beautiful) coat from Burberry? Ha, right, it’s only like 6 times the cost.

Burberry – Sprayed Check Coat – $1,495

J.Crew Lady Jacket in Double Serge Wool – Heather Carbon – $198 (from $258)

This caught my eye while I was flipping through the J.Crew catalog (yes, might as well embrace my addiction). It definitely has that Chanel-vibe, and I love the contrast between the gold buttons and the dark color. The only thing I hesitate on is I’m not quite envisioning what I’d wear this with in real life, since I’m not the terribly skinny, long-legged chick this model is and I can’t pull off a blazer with just leggings…would it look weird with jeans? What color jeans? I’d have to find an inner shirt long enough to pull off this look. Would it look weird with a skirt? Not sure. Love it in the Berry Pink color below too, and clearly she pulls it off very well with just jeans!

Michael Kors Gold Camille Chronograph Watch – $250

I’m obsessed with this watch. Its normal product photos don’t do it any justice, but it looks AMAZING in this lifestyle shot. I love that unlike Michael Kors’ typical ubiquitous gold watches, there’s a more demure white watch face that contrasts beautifully with the gold band. Best of all, I love the roman numerals — not just one for the 12 o’clock mark but for all the times. Is my obsession somewhat fueled by my previous obsession with the all-too-similar Cartier Ballon Bleu in Pink Gold (below)? Yes, I’ll admit it. It’s true. But this Cartier watch is like $20,000 — that will never happen, so I will happily, happily settle for this Michael Kors watch.

Ghurka Cavalier Carry On Travel Bag – $995-$1,395

Drool. I must have this bag. Must. I need this bag. I think I’ve been looking for a bag like this for years — the perfect tan, amazing thick leather, in a casual, effortless-looking size, yet a functional size perfect for weekend getaways and as carry-on for longer trips. I’m obsessed. I’m also now obsessed with Ghurka. All of their bags look this amazing with every color looking amazing and classic at the same time. Comes in 3 different sizes, hence the price range, but my favorite is the medium size. And how cute is the matching Dopp Kit? Don’t know what a Dopp Kit is but it’s perfect for all your smaller travel accessories. Just a tad expensive though…

Ghurka Travel Dopp Kit – $350

Spring 2012 Round-Up

Hey guys! Sorry I’ve been so MIA – I got completely sucked into my new job and was working around the clock. I’m now starting my own venture now, so I have some time to revive Crewlade. I thought I’d start with a round-up of my favorites for Spring. Right now I’m obsessed with pops of bold color against neutrals – I’m loving bright yellow, grass green, neon pink, and bold oranges, particularly against navys and whites. Ikat prints are also all the rage. What about you guys – what are you loving?

JCrew – Sequin Anchor Tank – $98

Nautical is always a big theme for Spring/Summer, but it’s that way for a reason – it is always cute and fresh! This Sequin Anchor Tank is comfy & casual yet effortlessly glam and very on-trend. Love! Buy it here at J.Crew for $98.

JCrew – Maritime Anchor Dress – $98

Keeping with the nautical theme, JCrew’s Maritime Anchor Dress is as comfortable easy to slip on as your typical sweats but way more on-trend. Throw on a cognac skinny belt & a statement necklace with a pop of yellow and you will look way more put-together than the 5 minutes you spend throwing it all on. Buy it here at J.Crew for $98.

JCrew – Drawstring Tunic in Stripe – $88

If you haven’t noticed by now, I’m all about looking good easily and comfortably. This Drawstring Tunic dress is right up my alley – comfortable, on-trend, and would look great with bright yellow sandals or bright yellow summer scarf. Buy it here at J.Crew for $88.

JCrew – Vintage Cotton Pocket Tank in Stripe – $29.50

I’m a huge fan of JCrew’s Vintage Cotton tees. I’ve tried many other basic tees at almost every store you can think of, and none drape as well as these, fit as comfortably, hold their shape, nor are as flattering as these. Plus they always hold their colors really well, staying vibrant even after many washes. This tank will go with everything and be comfortable while you stay looking sharp. Again, love it with pops of color. Buy it here at J.Crew for $29.50. If these were on sale, I’d buy them in every color!

JCrew – Bubble Necklace (Citrus Lime) – $150

And here’s your pop of bright yellow for all your neutrals this Spring! J.Crew’s bubble necklace is practically an icon now, so it perfectly combines a classic with the very on-trend yellow. Buy it here at J.Crew for $150.

JCrew – Margate Purse – $198

If you’re like me, as much as I love the Bubble Necklace in Citrus Lime, part of me – the lazy part – does not want to wear a heavy necklace on hot Spring/Summer days. Margate purse in Moroccan Yellow to the rescue! This is the perfect pop of color for any lazy person. I don’t usually need much when I go out – usually just my credit card (in a coin purse), keys, and my phone. If I could pop all those into a cross-body clutch and be hands-free, I’d look cute AND won’t have to hurt my shoulders carrying a real purse. Sweet. Buy it here from J.Crew for $198.

Ann Taylor Loft – Embellished Ikat Print Ruffle Neck Dress – $49.50

Why isn’t there more Ikat in printed clothing? I love it in home decor and would love to see more in tops and skirts. This dress for example – why doesn’t it come in more colors? Would look amazing in navy, yellow, orange, pink….Anyway, buy it while you still can here at Loft for $49.50. This has been selling pretty quickly.

Ann Taylor Loft – Cascade Ruffle Knit Tank Dress (Hot Orange) – $49.50

Love this comfy-looking, belt-it-and-go dress for Spring – and in a very on-trend color. Not surprised this has been selling like hotcakes at Loft. Buy it here for $49.50.

Ann Taylor Loft –

Loft Stripe Cotton Short Sleeve Sweater Tee (Lemon Meringue) – $44.50, Loft Embellished Ikat Print Shorts with 6″ Inseam – $44.50, Loft Waverly Stripe Tie Waist Dress – $59.50

Ok, I basically love everything in this picture. Comfy, easy-fit yellow tee pops against the navy Ikat & a casual sky-blue dress with pops of yellow already built in. Can we say custom made for me? Buy them at the links below at Loft.

Loft Stripe Cotton Short Sleeve Sweater Tee (Lemon Meringue) – $44.50

Loft Embellished Ikat Print Shorts with 6″ Inseam – $44.50

Loft Waverly Stripe Tie Waist Dress – $59.50

Anyone buy any of these yet? Would love feedback.

Should I Get These? Hmm…

I’ve been experiencing quite a dry spell recently. For some reason I’ve lost a lot of my interest in clothing. In an effort to “get back on the horse” so to speak, I’ve been doing some online browsing and I found a few things I like. Am I pushing myself to like them because I want to like them or because they’re legitimately cute? You guys tell me.

J.Crew Boutonniere Blazer – $198

J.Crew Sunnie Pencil Skirt – $128

Also loving the Marled Lambswool Apres Cardigan ($135) and Teal Flannel Boy Shirt ($72) shown.

Talbots Fair-Isle Flyaway Cardigan – $149

Talbots Fair-Isle Flyaway Cardigan
I’ve been seeing some rave reviews of Talbots, much like the fanfare Lands End Canvas received when they first launched. Very J.Crew-esque stuff. I’m not sure why I’ve always had the impression that they were geared towards older, more mature women, at least much more so than J.Crew. But today I checked it out and there are definitely some cute stuff…but quite pricey! $149 for a cardigan? Yikes.

Talbots Ruffle Plaid Blouse – $69.50

Talbots Windowpane Plaid Skirt – $109

Yup, I am a huge fan of red and black plaid. No idea why. So what do you guys think? Anyone try Talbots?
