Loft Multi Tier Shell

The Multi Tier Shell from Ann Taylor Loft is super cute and very girly. I’ve always been drawn to tops with ruffled layers, but never pulled the trigger until the Buy 1 Get 1 50% off promo hit at Loft. Given my recent affinity with silk ruffle tops, this seemed like a no brainer. The Loft site had the polka dotted version everywhere, in multiple styled “favorite look” shots. So of course, that’s the first one I purchased. Lucky me, as they seem to be quickly selling out!

I have to say I was excited about this one, but when I pulled it on, it was hard to ignore the fact that they completely squashed the girls. Like kaput, flat. I almost can’t breathe. But it’s loose and flowy everywhere else (I got my usual size). I’m not sure how they designed this top and why the bust area is so small and constricting. Is it just me? Otherwise, absolutely adorable top. Very whimsical and a great print. It’s fun but also neutral enough to match any color bottom. Best of all, with all those ruffles, no one will be able to tell after you’ve had a big, delicious meal. Here it is in pink:

Same issue with the bust unfortunately, but I’m loving this color. It’s so soft and feminine. I feel like such a “nice girl” in it. Balances out the rugged boyishness of the bottom tweed skirt. Only issue with this is since it is a light, solid color and made of a relatively thin material, whenever the wind blows and the ruffles at the bust flare up, people will be able to see your bra. Only briefly though! But sometimes I get a bit self-conscious at that.

Overall, these are keepers for me because they’re just that adorable. Get it here from Ann Taylor Loft for $49.50.

Loft Chunky Tweed Mini Skirt

The Chunky Tweed Mini Skirt from Ann Taylor Loft is the quintessential Fall/Winter skirt. There is just something so warm and cozy but chic about this houndstooth-ish tweed skirt. I absolutely adore it and can NOT wait to wear it!

I was surprised at how thick/heavy and literally warm this skirt is. It also buttons in the front, which is a first for me with skirts. Definitely not a Spring/Summer skirt…

I sized up a size because I saw how far up this skirt sits on this model. It still fits smaller than I would imagine and doesn’t sit as low as I had hoped. Instead of hitting at low waist, I had hoped it would hit more at the hip. So I would say this skirt is probably running one size small. Could be just me. Here’s a pic of where it’s sitting:

You will probably see this skirt a lot in my pictures because it matches everything and is just so cute!

Ann Taylor Loft Striped Sweater with Corsage

Weekend is over. Boo. Hope everyone had a relaxing one. I bought a bunch of Loft clothes recently due to their slew of great promos; I’m on the fence about a few. The Striped Sweater with Corsage from Ann Taylor Loft is one of them.

Loft Striped Sweater with Corsage

I know, it looks plain in this stock photo. I bypassed it too, until I saw it styled in one of their other photos that was fleetingly on the site. This sweater is cut a little long, so it looked unbelievably cute paired with a chunky tweed mini and belted at the hip with a wide cognac-colored belt. Throw in some tights and you got the cutest Fall/Winter outfit. Well, it is just as cute in person, and much softer and more comfortable than I expected. I discovered it’s even machine washable, so big bonus on that. But I think it may be a tad too small on me for the style I’m going for. I wanted to go for a slightly looser, boyfriend sweater type of look to drape over a shorter skirt. Instead, I think my usual size just made this a typical sweater for me.

Plus it was slightly tight on the arms. I think my arms must have been getting fatter because recently I’ve been trying on clothes in my usual size that fit me great everywhere but tight in the arms. Grrr. Let’s stop talking about that. Anyway, I’m not sure about this one. I think it’s cute but it wasn’t exactly what I expected in terms of fit and I’m starting to second guess whether I can pull off a “corsage” at the shoulder. What do you guys think?
