J.Crew Denim Pencil Skirt

Thanks to a rave review from reader Maressa, I have finally decided to order and check out the very popular Denim Pencil Skirt from J.Crew.

J.Crew Denim Pencil Skirt

Maressa commented that this is the denim version of the Double Serge Pencil Skirt so it should be uber flattering. Plus, with all the printed pencil skirts I’ve collected this summer from J.Crew, it will be nice to do the summer/fall transition with a great neutral skirt like denim. Love the fact that denim is inherently casual but it’s dressed up in the inherently dressy pencil skirt style. How could I possibly resist?

I’m wearing: J.Crew Silk Frances Cami, J.Crew Denim Pencil Skirt, Gucci Wedges (similar here)

I thought this skirt would be too long and I would have to pull it up the wazoo, but it is quite a perfect length. Didn’t have to resort to Petite sizing at all. I got my usual J.Crew size and it fits very comfortably. Can’t wait to wear this with boots and cozy cardigans for fall!

Get it here from J.Crew for $69.50.

J.Crew Glen Plaid Ruffle Skirt

The Glen Plaid Ruffle Skirt from J.Crew is clearly a Fall skirt, just dying to be shown off with fitted blazer and knee high boots.

When I first saw it online, I was afraid it would be too short on me, since it looks wayyyy short on this model. But then I saw it in stores and thought, I’ll size up and make this work! I think that worked and this skirt is no longer too short to be work appropriate, hitting me just a couple inches above my knee.

I’m wearing: J.Crew Bettina Cami, J.Crew Glass Pools Bracelet, Nine West Getby Wedges

The plaid is very cute and very school girlish, which I love, because it doubles the flirt factor of this skirt, but when I put it on, I realized it looked very familiar. Too familiar.

J.Crew Whisper Chambray Tiered SkirtJ.Crew Whisper Chambray Tiered Skirt

I’m wearing: J.Crew Vintage Cotton V-Neck Tee, J.Crew Whisper Chambray Tiered Skirt, J.Crew Equestrian Leather Belt, Christian Louboutin Very Prives

That’s right – the Whisper Chambray Tiered Skirt from not too long ago. Too similar to keep, this skirt is going back.

Get it here from J.Crew for $128.

J.Crew Bettina Cami

I think of the Bettina Cami from J.Crew as an easier-to-wear version of their silk ruffle camis.

I chose the Dried Rose color, even though I wanted to buy these in every color. I figured I would buy one just to test the waters first, then if I loved it, I’d decide which colors to buy next!

I’m wearing: J.Crew Equestrian Leather Belt, J.Crew Brushstroke Mini Skirt, Nine West Getby Wedges, J.Crew Glass Pools Bracelet

I got my usual size in J.Crew shirts – size 6 – and it fits relatively loosely. Perfect for tucking into skirts and looking put together without trying too hard. However, what’s up with the collar? It doesn’t really open up to showcase the ruffles; it’s more like the two flaps kind of just close in on your chest. I kept trying to push down the two sides but they kept closing back up. Still cute regardless, but this could bother people who expect it to come looking like the stock photo online.

Here’s another picture of the cami untucked; it hits below hip.

Best part of this cami? It looks dressy and will make you look put together without much effort, but has none of the high maintenance issues that come with all the other silk ruffle camis that provide the same type of look. It’s machine washable!!! Hooray! I’m eyeing Spicy Russet and Tuscan Olive next.
