J.Crew Embroidered Ikat Pencil Skirt

I was kind of “eh” on the Embroidered Ikat Pencil Skirt from J.Crew. I mean, the pattern is pretty I guess, but I kind of like my skirts to either be solid or have a bold print, so I wasn’t totally sold on it…

J.Crew Embroidered Ikat Pencil Skirt

I received it yesterday and I have to say, in person this skirt still does not wow me. In fact, I was surprised at how thick and heavy the skirt is; it feels much more like a fall/winter skirt than summer. I definitely could not and would not wear this skirt in the summer because I would probably melt. Inside the thick, heavy skirt is another layer of material for the lining; it’s in cotton, which should theoretically be breathable, but I think it itself is suffocating from the weight and thickness of the outside layer. For the few minutes I had this skirt on – though I was right next to the AC – I felt the tinglings of oncoming sweat. Bahh.

I think this will be great for fall though…will even keep you warm sans tights. So, it’s a keeper, especially at this good sale price.

J.Crew Wildcat Ombre Pencil Skirt

Before I even had much time to obsess and stalk the Wildcat Ombre Pencil Skirt at J.Crew, it went on sale! What luck.

J.Crew Wildcat Ombre Pencil Skirt

It looks much better in person and on the body than in this stock photo, I think. The ombre effect is much more evident and the pink is much more vibrant.

Here’s another shot of the full pencil skirt and how it’d look with something tucked in.

The material is pretty thin, so I feel like any bumps on your body will show (or if you had a big dinner….ooof). Fortunately, that’s offset by the great distraction of a leopard-ish pattern. It also fits comfortably in my normal pencil skirt size. I like it a lot and from what I’ve read, many other girls also love it, so I will anticipate this skirt showing up everywhere in NYC just as the Ink Blossom skirt has!

J.Crew Infinity Cardigan

I really like the Infinity Cardigan from J.Crew because while I have many oversized gray boyfriend cardigans, I don’t have one that looks cute and professional like this one will.

J.Crew Infinity Cardigan

This is a fitted long cardigan that will look great belted over shorter skirts and dresses. Since it’s merino – my favorite material for comfort and aesthetics in sweaters – it drapes perfectly and is very comfortable. Unfortunately I always get Medium for cardigans but received a Small this time. The arms are way too tight but the rest seem to fit, though not enough room for my liking.

I can’t wait to go back for a size bigger. This is the type of cardigan I would love to stock up on.
