I’ve had the White Midsized Chronograph watch from Michael Kors for a few months now. This post is really more like an inquiry disguised as a review – hope you guys don’t mind! So first, the review. The watch looks gorgeous. Ever since I laid eyes on the Chanel J12 in white, I’ve loved the fresh look of a white watch. Not just a small girly white watch but a watch that combines the fresh femininity of white with the bold, masculine style of a big, round-face, typically men’s watch. The touches of gold detailing really add interest and glamor.
It looks casual but dressy. I really love(d) it a lot. I wore it every single day. Especially love the gold peeking out of each link in the bracelet. The 33mm size is perfect for my wrist also – just big enough to look like a feminized men’s watch.
Now here’s the problem…the white bracelet is white polyurethane-wrapped stainless steel, polyurethane meaning a very rubbery material. Since it’s white, it is literally a magnet for dirt. I try not to wear it next to any dark colored clothing and I always take it off if I’m going to be at my computer where something may be touching the bracelet. Even with all this prudence, the bracelet basically turned to gray in just the last few months.
Do you see the dirt streaks in the right picture? Ugh. I’m starting to feel embarrassed wearing this watch. It doesn’t really matter if you’re dressed all cute if you have fraying hems, holey shoes, or in this case, dirty watches. It just kind of ruins the put-together look, especially when you’re trying to project that confidence. So…even though Crewlade is not intended to be about watches or accessories, I’m really on a quest now to find a replacement for this watch…if anyone out there has any suggestions for a cute, fresh, big bold men’s size watch that may match my style, please feel free to throw it out there.
You should go for Chanel J12! I love mine and wear it to death.
I have the Michael Kors enamel white watch and that does not streak or stain. It does not have the gold accents you love so much though. Juicy Couture has a white enamel watch with gold hardware that may work for you
Thank you so much for this review. I was about to order this one but i might ahve a look again.
thxx and hugsss
Just wondering, would taking a magic eraser to the strap work? Don’t know if it may make it look dull and take off some of the shine but maybe you can try it on the inside to see if it does the trick. Gorgeous watch btw if you plan on selling it I’d love to take it off your hands! (literally )
I just bought the MK watch last week, been wearing it every single day and the sales person did warn me about all the returns they’ve got because of the bracelet getting dirty.
I personally don’t mind it, I always wear white and even though I work at a computer everyday (rubbing against the black mousepad), I don’t mind cleaning it from time to time.
A soft toothbrush and some soap does the trick!
I absolutely love it and have had compliments every single day!
I’ve been shopping for a white watch for a month and even the Chanel J12 doesn’t do it for me. MK is the most beautiful one I’ve seen so far! Love the details and the feminity yet strenght of it.
Liv – Hmm, I have no idea. I haven’t tried, but that’s a good thought…maybe I’ll try it!
Kay – it is quite beautiful, that’s why I bought it in the first place! But I guess everyone reacts to these things differently, because the grayness of the band really bothers me but I’m sure it’s not really even noticeable to most people around me!
I just bought the same watch. Have you put to test the soft brush and soap?
i have had my eye on this watch… i am glad i found this site i love allthe bloggs from everyones point of view..
