Tiffany’s Heart Key Charm Pendant Necklace

I’ve never really been a huge Tiffany’s fan; most of their jewelry is so expensive, yet I’m usually unable to tell that it came from Tiffany’s and cost an exorbitant amount vs something from a local jewelry store. I’m also not a fan of those “return to Tiffany” bracelets or pendants as they’re just trying so hard to be all “I’m from Tiffany’s!” Then I stumbled upon this little Heart Key Charm Pendant — something dainty and pretty with just a touch of Tiffany’s blue without being obnoxious about it. Quintessential Tiffany’s but still understated.

I can imagine this being paired with just about everything. It’s dainty enough to go with a girly sun dress, casual enough for a tee and jeans, perfect for everyday wear.

I loved and *needed* it from the moment I set eyes on it, before I even knew the price. I thought I’d be in big trouble; falling in love with a Tiffany’s piece, how cliche and vastly unaffordable. Then I saw the price and did a double take — $135! Seriously, one of the best bang-for-the-buck pieces in the Tiffany’s collection, if not the best one.

Of course, the pendant does not come with its own necklace, so I paired it with a 20″ thin silver chain, which I think is the perfect length. You can get the silver chain from Tiffany’s as well, the price is pretty reasonable.

All in all, one of my favorite purchases ever, and I’d highly recommend it, especially at this price. Get it here from Tiffany’s for $135. Sterling silver chain here.

Madewell Pivot Pendant

I was first drawn to these Madewell Pivot Pendants when I saw them styled on the Madewell site with the buffalo check flannel I reviewed in my last post; they intrigued me because I’ve actually never heard of an adjustable necklace before. The malachite and tiger eye are also very pretty, so that didn’t hurt.

In person, they are just as pretty. Loved these two colors paired with the gold, and though I wouldn’t have thought to put these two colors together, they do work really well. So well that it felt too sparse to wear just one!

In fact, each one alone was kind of hard to style for me. They’re not big enough to warrant the longer length as they’re not really statement pendants, but they also didn’t seem to be one of those types of necklaces that you wear on a short length below your collarbone as they’re not exactly dainty either. But together, at least at the shorter length, they somehow worked. Here they are on a shorter length:

To get them to that short length, you’ll have to really double up and drag the adjuster all the way down, as you can tell from the photo. I didn’t like that the adjuster would show on both ends; it distracted away from the pendants. But they looked great otherwise. Here they are at a longer length:

This might be the ideal length for them — long enough not to show the adjusters, but still very casual and pretty. Any longer and it didn’t look right, almost like the size of the pendants didn’t match the length of the necklace. All in all, definitely great necklaces that I personally think work best together, and the adjustable length offers you a lot of versatility and variety of looks vs your average necklace. What are your thoughts? If you love it, get it here from Madewell for $38.

Madewell Flannel Plaid Workshirt in Buffalo Check

Yes, it’s no secret I’ve been harboring a great obsession with the Madewell red/black buffalo check flannel shirt. After all, I’m quite obsessed with red/black plaid during the Fall/Winter seasons, and from just the pictures online alone, it seems no one does classic red/black flannel quite like this beauty from Madewell. Almost every single review is a rave one, and Madewell themselves are pushing hard to have this shirt styled everywhere from their catalog to their emails.

It was just basically taunting me, so alas when Madewell rolled out their T-giving week 25% off promo, I bit. Based on all the reviews calling this shirt oversized, I was unsure which size to get. For button downs, I typically go for a Medium these days, and since I was hoping to wear this out with just leggings and boots, I figured it’s safer to go for the Medium; the oversized nature of it will ensure a longer fit. When I finally got it and tried it on, I was really baffled.

I like oversized shirts, I do, but when they are too short, the proportions are just off and the shirt ends up looking wide and boxy. And I end up looking wide and boxy. I felt like I had instantly gained those 10 holiday pounds up top. I thought, this can’t be just me? Maybe I’m missing something? I tried tucking it in, I tried pairing with jeans…but nothing would change that same wide, boxy fit up top.

See how ridiculously oversized that is? For that much extra width, there should proportional length to match, no? Then I thought, you know what, this must be my fault. Reviews all warned to size down, maybe miraculously a Small would fit me the same dreamy way it fits that model and every other reviewer. So I ordered a Small ASAP, even paying for express shipping so I could get my hands on it sooner. Well, here was the result:

The Small fit better, but still it was boxy and wide and unflattering. I couldn’t even bear to look at myself in the mirror because I just looked so terrible and swollen. Where did I go wrong with this shirt? I honestly don’t know. Or maybe this is what others would think is good yet I just somehow have a skewed perception? I also wouldn’t call it comfortable either; for some reason it kept riding up and I had to keep pulling it down. I wish they just made a classic fit red/black plaid flannel at this point.

Again, a lot of room width-wise but not seemingly proportional length-wise. Or maybe I should’ve gone for another size smaller if I wanted to get rid of the boxiness so it’d seem more proportional to me. I don’t think I have a long torso but this barely covered my butt. For as long as I can remember, I have pretty standard measurements that usually fit well into the sizes I expect. If something runs large or small for most people, it does the same for me. But how to explain how terrible this shirt fit on me but apparently very well on others? If you have this shirt or have tried it on, I’d love to hear your thoughts on it.
